Manic Monday - Nuts

These are from the black walnut tree in my back yard. There are hundreds of them on the ground after Ike blew through here a couple of weeks ago. We used to pay the kid up the street a nickel a walnut to pick them up...he grew up and no longer works for change.

This is what the squirrels do to them. This messy tree makes me

NUTS

We had a walnut tree once and a whole slew of squirrels to go with it. There were times when it sounded like a hail storm of walnuts.

Memories!
I used to live in a house that had a walnut tree in the back yard. I remember the ground being covered with those green things, just like your picture.
And yes, the squirrels sure know how to make a mess of things. :)

We have walnut trees on the property line between us and our neighbor. Last year the squirrels carried them off and kept it really clean. I guess I should be thankful for clean squirrels. :)

I've never seen a walnut tree but I love that you use to pay the neighbor kid to pick them up! Great memory!

Happy MM!

We used to have a walnut tree in our backyard (in Czech). I remember it was a pain to pick them all up and get rid of that green skin. Our fingers got yellow and then turned black. Nothing helped to take it off until we tried lemon juice.
Have a great Monday :o)

It must be very nice to have a walnut tree in your garden and all the squirrels with them.

Yep, you have a black walnut tree.
A great shade tree, and great squirrel food tree, but lots of mess for sure!
Thanks for participating in Manic Monday!
cheers,
Manic Mo
